CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE

This exempt supervisory position is responsible the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results; perform related work as required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives;
  • monitors and directs the implementation of strategic business plans;
  • develops financial and tax strategies;
  • understand work in process accounting procedures;
  • manages the capital request and budgeting processes;
  • develops performance measures that support the company's strategic direction;
  • participates in key decisions as a member of the executive management team;
  • maintains in-depth relations with all members of the management team;
  • manages the accounting, human resources, legal, tax, and treasury functions;
  • oversees all financial operations;
  • manages third parties to which functions have been outsourced;
  • oversees the company's transaction processing systems;
  • implements operational best practices;
  • oversees employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package;
  • oversees the issuance of financial information;
  • reports financial results to company President, Board of Directors, and executive management team;
  • understands and mitigates key elements of the company's risk profile;
  • monitors all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry;
  • designs, implements, and monitors reliable control systems;
  • maintains appropriate insurance coverage;
  • ensures the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements;
  • ensures record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies;
  • reports risk issues to the executive management team;
  • maintains relations with external auditors and investigates their findings and recommendations;
  • monitors cash balances and cash forecasts;
  • arranges for debt and equity financing;
  • invests funds appropriately;
  • participates in conference calls with the financial community;
  • maintains banking, bonding, insurance, ESOP relationships; Supervises staff; and
  • provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to customers, vendors, clients, partners, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Examples of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position include: at least ten (10) years of professional experience involving financial management, corporate accounting practices, and strategic planning procedures.

SPECIAL NOTES, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Pre-employment:  Incumbents must sign the Confidentiality, Non-disclosure, and Non-solicitation Agreement prior to their first day on the job.

 

License:  A valid class C driver’s license is required of this job classification.

 

Language:  Fluent English communication skills are required of this position.   

 

Certifications:  While a Certified Public Accountant certification is desirable, there are no specific certifications required of this job classification. 

 

Working Conditions:  Work is predominately in an office environment with associated noise, space, and computer screen exposure. 

 

Background Investigation:  Incumbents must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.  Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency.  Prior to appointment, candidates are subject to a background investigation and/or drug test.

 

Introductory Period:  Incumbents appointed to this job classification will serve an introductory period of three months.
